About the Artist
Liu Jinghong, born in Heilongjiang in 1985, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
He currently lives and works in Dali, Shanghai and Beijing.
His artistic practice focuses on oil painting and explores perception, inner experience and the relationship between colour, space and form.
Artist Statement
For Liu Jinghong, painting is a way of exploring truth and personal perception. His artistic practice grows from observation, experience and an ongoing search for an inner state that cannot always be expressed through words.
Through oil painting, he works with colour, form, light and space to create an atmosphere in which viewers can experience the work in their own way.
Rather than describing a specific scene, his paintings invite the viewer to enter a visual and emotional space.
The “Enlightenment Blue” Series
The “Enlightenment Blue” series is a central body of Liu Jinghong’s artistic practice.
Blue is not simply a colour in these paintings. It becomes a visual space through which the artist explores perception, stillness and inner experience.
Across the series, flowing forms, layered surfaces and subtle changes of blue create an open and contemplative space. Each painting offers a different visual experience while remaining connected to the artist’s continuing exploration of “Enlightenment Blue”.
